Wheelbase Engineering Ltd are pleased to announce its acquisition of  the intellectual property rights, designs, drawings and production jigs for the former Ray Smith Group’s demountable equipment.

Wheelbase has produced demount systems for a number of years but Ray Smith Group was market leader and last year turned over around £8.5m, a fall from its earlier £15m peak due largely to severe competition in the tail lift and demount sectors.

The deal gives the Blackburn-based chassis engineering specialist a large presence amongst UK swap body users, from small fleets to large blue chip groups.

Managing Director Simon Pickles is looking forward to maintaining continuity in the  supply of swap body equipment and spares that are fully compatible with existing RSG systems already in fleet service.
