Trailers

A vehicle exceeding 12,000 kg drawing laden trailers over 4,000 kg is liable to additional duty, this duty is not liable to a reduced pollution rate - took affect on 1st May 2003

Vehicle Rear Overhang

For four wheel rigids, rear overhang from centre line of rear axle to rear of vehicle must not exceed 60% of the wheelbase.

For six and eight wheel rigids, rear overhang from the centre line of the rear bogie to the rear of the vehicle must not exceed 60% of the wheelbase plus 110mm.

There is no maximum height restriction for rigids in force in the UK.

Turning Circle

A rigid must be able to turn, on either lock so that it is completely contained within a swept circle of 12.5 metres and outside of an inner radius of 5.3 metres.

-   If trailer is a car transporter, and king pin to the rear of the trailer does not exceed 12.5 metres and no part of the semi-trailer is more than 4.19 metres forward of the king pin 16.50
-   If semi-trailer is low loader 18.00

There is no maximum height restriction for Arties in force in the UK.
