Based on the Mercedes Atego 1624, supplied by Ciceley Commercials of Bolton and incorporating a Wheelbase Engineering Ltd midlift axle installation, raising the gross vehicle weight to 22000 kgs, the vehicle illustrated above, provides the ideal chassis platform for the C P Davidson Semat 227, 16 cubic metre municipal body.
The Wheelbase Engineering Limited conversion takes the original vehicle, with a wheelbase of 4760 mm to 4600 mm and fits a disc braked, narrow track, third axle, forward of the new drive axle position. The fitment of 265/70R x 19.5 wheels and tyres results in an increased gross vehicle weight from 16000 kgs to 22000 kgs and at the same time offering a rear bogie capacity of 15950 kgs.
This is yet another example of Wheelbase Engineering’s vast chassis conversion experience combined with a policy of working closely with both vehicle manufacturer and bodybuilder to provide the ideal vehicle to meet the ever demanding market requirements.
