RSG demountable systems compatibility guaranteed

Compatibility with demountable equipment produced by the Ray Smith Group is guaranteed by Wheelbase Engineering, as owners of the ‘intellectual property rights’ to all of the original designs, which includes the engineering drawings and individual customer records.

Wheelbase Engineering not only produces equipment for existing users of these systems, but regularly supplies new customers and operators who have entered the demountable market via their acquisition of good second-hand product.

However equipment is acquired it is critical to its integrity that any additional equipment is manufactured to the same build standard. If manufacture of the equipment does not maintain the original build tolerances, this will have a detrimental effect on the whole fleet and can result in premature wear of vital components and introduce safety issues.

Abel Systems becomes part of the family.

Abel Demountable Systems Ltd has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Wheelbase Engineering Ltd. The acquisition of Chesterfield based Abel Systems will not only enhance the groups flexibility in the provision of demountable systems and drawbar trailers, but importantly open up the opportunity to carry out chassis modifications that have previously taken place at Wheelbase Engineering on a more regional basis.

Within their ever increasing portfolio of products, Abel Systems can now include wheelbase extensions and reductions, plus the addition of mid lift and tag axles. Training to include other types of work is taking place, with the latest being braking and electrical system conversions for drawbar application.
