Ryder Ltd has long been the preferred supplier to Leicester based ‘Cromwell’ a leading supplier of tools to suit just about every requirement imaginable. The latest additions to the ‘Cromwell’ fleet involved Wheelbase Engineering Ltd in the supply of two drawbar trailers and the towing package on a Scania prime mover, all of which had to be compatible with the existing fleet.
Ray Wells the transport Manager at ‘Cromwell’ has developed the specification over a number of years and in so doing has created a vehicle ideally suited to their unique operating requirements when delivering to a nationwide network of trade outlets.
Unlike the majority of drawbar trailer applications in this case a tail lift is a vital part of the specification, as are the independent batteries which are recharged by the prime mover. This additional facility makes the trailer truly independent of any other form of manual handling equipment and even the truck itself, so it can be loaded and unloaded in any location irrespective of the available facilities.
